Annechovie's Sihouettes

We all love Annechovie's Anne Harwell

And....
Anne Harwell
Recently posted on a new art series of hers.
I thought they would catch on ....
and create a whole new set of collectors.

::Silhouettes::

Miss Harwell's silhouettes would look better than these.
No?

From what I am reading,
Annechovie's very art in silhouette

13 Months

Have you
 had good, fair, to a not so good experience with a builder or contractor?
Or even a furniture manufacturer?

I was doing a clients home here in Florida
across the street from the ocean in Delray Beach.
It was taking forever to finish this home.
We had to get the herring bone walnut floors done right,
the insets in the marble done.
And done right.

Expecting work 'done right' in South Florida is somewhat of an oxymoron.
Sorry Florida.
Only if you are using 'HIGH END' manufacturers, contractors, workrooms, and builders
can you expect good to perfect work.
And I need  'perfect' work'
Just remember there is no such thing as 'a deal,'
or an unbelievably great price on something that requires any sort of skill.

Back to the builder....
beside the fact that he was a smug spoiled brat who was in his family's business...
the building of this house went on for 2 years.
It may have been 10,000 sq. ft.
but C'mon!!!!

{he had the same size crew working on the Delray house}
He kept telling me fibs daily about this and that.
He said; " It takes a long time to do a home like this and of this size."
So...
I said;
 " Okay...You are a builder, and your family has been in the business
 here in Florida over 25 years. Right?"
 "That's right!!!"
said the smug little 40 something brat.

I said;
 "I am sure that you know it only took 13 months to build the Empire State building. Right?"

You might ask me; "SO, what did he say then?"

He said nothing. Like most men when they are in the wrong.

DID YOU KNOW
that the Empire State build was built in about 13 months?

Happy Weekend and Reader Questions Answered

THIS POST IS FROM ROOM REMIX - THE BLOG .

HAPPY FRIDAY!

house to home

This is probably not an image that one would typically post smack dab in the middle of winter (actually it's probably not even the middle yet) but I couldn't resist.  It's snowing here again today, as it has almost every day for the last month, and the snow is white, pretty and all that, but this image makes me dream of the days when we'll see scenes like this again. :-) And how pretty is the honeysuckle in this image???!!!

On another note. I had some questions on the image above from this post.  I've already exchanged e-mails with the readers who asked the questions, but I thought some of you may want to know the answers too...

Question 1 -  Last week you showed a beautiful C picture, do you  know the author or how I could get in touch with the gallery?

Answer:  When she first asked this question, I could have sworn I had seen someone do a post on the origin of this sign but could not remember who for the life of me.  A few google searches turned up The Zhush's post, and she's got all the answers for you!  Find out all the details here...

Question 2 - Where can I find this coffee table?

Answer:  I think I found it at Jayson Home and Garden and it actually comes in three different sizes, but it's definitely not in the budget for the reader that asked (or for me).

This one from Wisteria is similar, but it only comes in white and is more of a side table size (although you could use two or three for a coffee table).

Does anyone else have any ideas/sources for this table?

A Cool Double Bed at Vento Modular Sofa by Thomas Althaus

Here’s Vento, modular sofa by Thomas Althaus which can be turn into bed. We love the idea how this furniture able to transform itself into a bed but we wouldn’t recommend so to use this kind of bed in a small space house. What is great about this modular furniture is the flexibility in choosing to arrange the bed where once being transform it will leave a space where you can leave or put your books, CDs, Drinks, and other objects next to the bed.

The sofa bed furniture has a special support of night table and the modern couch can support for up to two persons. It’s not a space saving idea furniture but it’s definitely modular. This modular sofa has L shape design where the other part remains fix. It’s an intermediate seating solution if you’re looking for a two in one furniture design.

Elic Modern Umbrella Stand by Tony Lanzilloe and Carlo Martinengo

Tony Lanzilloe and Carlo Martinengo are the creative designer behind this fashionable furniture inspiration of modern umbrella stand that they named as Elic.This practically umbrella stand ideas comes in beautiful shape reminds us of a great architectural building that was designed by Santiago Calatrava called Turning Torso. Elic is an original umbrella stand with two spaces, suitable for long and short umbrellas. The shallower space can become a roomy empty pocket. It is made from polyethylene produced by rotational moulding and is available in various colours.

The function of the umbrella stand was same with the older design, but the design was not same with the last design. Now, the designer was use clay as the main material of the stand. The design was inspired from the spiral design so that we will see the unique design of this umbrella stand. Honestly, the design of the umbrella stand was very attractive and can be a tool to show off modern and stylish personality from the owner.

Space Saving Furniture With Reading Chair by Remy van Oers

Space saving furniture is still today’s furniture trend. Perhaps this is because people want to get the most space out of their house, so the idea of having two functions or more in one furniture is becoming popular. We’ve seen another book chair like this one before, but this one is completely different as the back of multi-function chair is flat.

The Reading Furniture collection which was designed by Remy van Oers a Dutch designer was presented in Dutch Design Week in 2010. Unlike the previous book chair we’ve seen, this one has its own style as it is completed with built in lamp that can provide lighting that you need to read books. So I guess this reading chair has three functions, those are as a chair, book storage, and reading lamp. Great isn’t it?

The Love for Silver Furniture

Silver furniture is shiny and luxurious and it’s the best furniture to create interior ranging from aristocratic interior, modern and up to contemporary interior design at your house. Silver furniture is heavy some say but thanks to today’s technology there are also light weight silver furniture. From chaises lounge silver furniture to the dining set silver furniture they’re all indeed doesn’t need special treatment unlike the rattan one or the wooden furniture that will easily eaten by termites. There are living things that can eaten it away except time that will rust them away but you don’t need to worry. As long as you’re keeping your silver furniture away from water then it will be fine. What if it caught water? Then just wipe it with dry cloth.
Silver furniture is also good to be used in public spaces as it is strong. In some developing country the use of silver bench is to avoid people stealing the bench and placing it at their houses. The design of furniture isn’t hard, it can be flexible like the silver table design bellow. And just like plastic and timber, silver can be shaped just into a modern twist and the great thing is that it’s also used in many sculptural objects.
